6 Things to Make Jelly Battle Better

1. Profiles - Not a big profile like myspace or facebook, just something small. Like an avatar and a little information about your jelly battler. Maybe your jelly characters favorite weapon, quote or something fun. There could also be other information about your Jelly like it’s birthday, wins and losses, most used weapon, weapon that causes the most damage, who you killed the most, who has killed you the most, etc…..

2. Lobby area - I know this is just a flash game Logitech made to make people want to buy their products, but players from all over the world play the game. While bashing each other with handbags or dropping pianos on each others heads many jellies chat it up. A lobby area would provide a nice place for jellies to talk in a more peaceful setting. Also in the lobby users should be able to ’set up’ a match.

3. Challenges - There is a lot of trash talking going on in Jelly land. It would be great to allow Jelly Battlers to challenge each other to a duel or even 2v2 battles. This could take place in the lobby. Logitech could even setup ‘Jelly Tournaments’ using the new 1v1 system or keep it as a 4 player everyman for himself tourny and give prizes away for the events more than the current 20% off coupon all players are elgible for.

4. Scoring - The game is largely up for guessing on how the scoring works. But one thing is certain, you lose more points if you’re the first out than you gain if you kill all three opponents. The scoring is largely unbalanced and can be a frustrating point for casual gamers who enjoy jelly battling. Not only should Logitech increase the balance of the scoring system but tell gamers how the scores are tabulated at the end of a match. That would go a long way to helping casual gamers increase their rank. For example as a Major you must win approximately 4 out of every 5 matches you first play in to maintain your Major status as soon as you get it. This causes many would-be-Majors to gain the rank, only to lose it a few matches later. It also appears that the higher in rank you get, the fewer points you get for eliminating all opponents while the number of points lost for losing increases adding to the pain of increasing rank.

5. Game Freezing - So often the jelly battle matches freeze leaving players helpless to fight the will of the game. The freezes appear to be caused by one or more clients in the match having a slower connection to the game. Afterall players from Korea, Brazil, Germany and California frequent the game. The biggest problem here isn’t just that the game freezes and leaves players unable to play, but it also takes away points from every player as if each person was the first one to get defeated in the game. Add this nuisance on top of the unbalanced scoring and leveling and you get a lot of frustrated gamers.

During the freeze period it seems that Jelly Battle notices a lack of action in the game and eventually resets to the login page. If the game can do this it wouldn’t be that hard to program it to NOT take or give points for a frozen match. Perhaps even add a button that each player can click to ‘cancel’ the match in case freezing takes place. This would greatly add to the playability of Jelly Battle.

6. New Weapons - Sure the classic Jelly Battle weapons still rule. There’s nothing better than beating someone down with a purse, or nuking everyone on the battle keyboard. But Logitech could at least liven up the game by introducing limited time weapons for special occasions like maybe a diagonal attack, or a chainsaw attack to hit neighboring jellies. Maybe even one you could target through the air like a slingshot, bow n arrow or missile attack.
